Notes to players: You can create characters in one of three ways: 1. Do nothing, show up at 3pm, and I'll give you a character or two to choose from. 2. Show up at 2pm, and I'll have one or more partial characters waiting for you. You can choose a partial character and flesh him out with more skills, quirks, etc. 3. Develop your own character from scratch, using rules that I will send you. In any case, you can help me by emailing me animal totems and jobs that you would like your character to have. I already have these from Jon-Luc, Andy, Chris F, and Sarah (but you can send more). An example would be "squirel fisherman" or "brown bear priest". Rules and other materials You do not need to buy any rule books! (Although having the free GURPS: lite material is a good idea.) I will be using these books: GURPS: Basic (all that applies) GURPS: Compendium I (all that applies) GURPS: Magic GURPS: Religion GURPS: Low Tech (Parts of chapters 1, 2, and 3.) GURPS: Aztec GURPS: Old West (Some of the magic. Remember that the indians described here are very post contact. They ride horses, drink liquor, hunt buffalo, etc. Also remember that it focuses on the plains indians, while this adventure covers mostly Californian Indians.) I will be using GURPS Character Assistent software. If you want to do some homework, read up on local indian tibes. (The mountain View library has a CD-ROM on the Pomo, for example, with pictures of houses, weapons, and so on.) The tribes you can look at are Pomo, Ohlone, Salinas, and related "Costanoan". Here are some web sites to get you started: http://www.santacruzpl.org/history/spanish/ohlone.shtml http://mail.springer.losaltos.k12.ca.us/1999/19/ohlone/default.html And here are some pictures to fire your imagination: http://dynaweb.oac.cdlib.org/dynaweb/virtual/moac/honeyman/@Generic__BookView%3bcs=default%3bts=default My Goals I have always felt that a gaming world based on the Myths of American Indians would be an interesting one, so I am working on developing it. I'm using this adventure to help play test my "animal totem" character generation system and also several different magic systems.
